Blythe: wide-eyed fashion show

by Yaya.

Before all the goth ridden fifteen year olds were desperately seeking high resolution pictures of Mark Ryden’s paintings to get them tattooed, there was Blythe dolls. Unfortunately, like all visionaries ahead of their time, the creators of the Blythe doll had to pull them out from toy stores shelves because apparently, the doll was too scary for children. This happened in the 70′s. Later on, Hasbro started producing them again for their asian market. And every year since their resurrection in 2000, they hold a special Blythe fashion show with outfits designed by Japan’s most prominent and talented up and coming designers, artists and celebrities. This year’s theme was anime.

I am positive one of them was inspired in MK Olsen. (yes, the one with the pirate hat and covered in what seems to be layers and layers of roadkill)
